My Montessori Baby ~ 14 Months
This month has been incredible. Caroline has gone from being a baby to a little toddling person.
Unfortunately, Caroline had several visits to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta earlier in the month. First, she spent some time in the ER for an ugly case of croup. Then, she had an EEG scan to rule out seizures. (She has been having "fits of jerking".)
With the school year coming to a close, many of my Caroline pictures were school-related, as she spent most of her waking hours there.
After a week of tie-dying shirts, we kicked-off the last week of school with Field Day.
One of my favorite traditions is a Spirit Week the last week of school. This is the first time in seven years I have not jumped at the chance to dress up at every opportunity. I spent several mornings (when I normally would have been coming up with my own costume) making drastic last minute changes to Caroline's outfit.
Clown Day
My sleepy clown on her evening walk with Daddy.
Super Hero Day
This costume was stapled together just minutes before carpool began.
Caroline pasted me a love collage as I slaved away on her fancy custom cape. :)
Wild West Day
As you can clearly see, we had no less than three costume changes this day. She ultimately ended up using a bandana as a skirt.
On a totally different note, transferring is one of Caroline's newest lessons. She is still struggling to grasp the concept: while spooning, she likes to place the items on her spoon with her fingers, and while "pouring", she generally prefers using her fingers to transfer items to the other cup.
She has recently been introduced to the Pink Tower.
We're still working on Solid Cylinders.
At home, Caroline is getting very independent. For instance, the other day, she decided she could not wait for meal time and went ahead and made herself a snack.
Under normal circumstances, the child does eat at a table.
She has even started cleaning after herself.
After feeding herself dinner and wiping down the table, Caroline crawls up the stairs and gives herself a bath.
brushes her hair and teeth...
and toddles off to her room for a story and song before bed.
She makes my heart smile.
Can't wait for next week's family trip to Disney!

Caroline's 13th Month
Caroline has been having a good time at school. (Though I'm afraid that having her in class is causing her to age prematurely.)
She stays surprisingly content looking at books and making crafts while strapped to her chair during after-school tutoring. She paints, works with play dough, tears paper strips, colors, etc.
She got to enjoy the puppet show this year. Last year, I'm pretty sure she slept through it.
At home, we finally had to break down and put locks on most of our kitchen cabinets. She loves to help out around the house and got a bit too fascinated with our cleaning products.
Over Spring Break, we went down to Albany where she got to visit Grandma Marlowe and her class. She loved playing on the playground with the big kids and watching all their fun lessons. I took the opportunity to shoot an impromptu photo session during recess -- the grounds were just too pretty. :)
After three nights at grandma's we headed to North Carolina. We spent the day at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. Caroline walked the whole way!

Back at the cabin, Caroline played wiffle ball with her daddy and helped us build a fire pit!
We spent the morning before Easter at home and were able to take Caroline to our church's egg hunt.
After a slightly traumatic first visit with the Easter Bunny, it took a while for Caroline to warm up.
She ended up getting lots of eggs and even being able to hold REAL baby bunnies!
After the hunt, we got in the car and headed to Griffin for more special grandparent time! Caroline dyed eggs and had lots of fun with all the treats the Easter Bunny left in her basket.
Hope you had a Happy Easter!! xxoo
